$_58.JPG and
Keeping a watch on the bay for lotus parts I came across this:

Lotus ?lan S3/S4 Bonnet Catches Original
Item Id: 141127822532
End time: 08-Dec-13 20:04:22 GMT
Seller:
the-lotus-eaters (846)

Location: Oxfordshire, United Kingdom
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... TQ:GB:1123

Im sure that they are original but both are useless scrap, and some poor unaware potential lotus lover will be conned!

Ahh, our very own member 'Casalunge' who's memory is sometimes a little hazy on the facts.

Refer back to your notebook Colin.

How on earth, do you arrive at such a derogatory definition?

I think you have missed the point of their potential value,

1, What if you need a pair just like that to put on a 'Barn find'? No buyer of a newly discovered Lotus would mind if the bonnet catches were broken. This pair have the correct patina. Also you could sell the good pair to recoup the cost.

2, If you are rebuilding an Elan with a new bodyshell these broken ones could be used as templates if you did not know where to drill the fixing holes.

3, There are probably other good reasons that I have not thought of yet, if and when I do I may not tell you here on a public forum.

I do think the seller is selling himself short though. he only says they are for the S3 and S4 models whereas he could have widened the market as I am sure they fit S1 and S2, and most importantly the SPRINT!

How long has this 'Patina' word been used? It used to be called wear and tear but now you can even have 'just the right amount of patina'
By the way Bob, how much are you asking for the underseal?

I'm getting quite an education here in Yiddish....

Back to the original post... casalunge (an area of Italy) is selling a pair of broken hood latches, you want them? you bid, you don't want them? You don't....

I don't see what the issue is, there's a clear picture of the condition of the parts...

Condition "For Parts Not Working"

And for those of you who can read the above as Oscar Wilde once said " Nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing"

Search no further than many of these threads for such minded people :D

Seeing the Original Listing on EBay I believe the seller is missing the full potential of his sale, surely these are the Light Weight ones off the 26R !!!
