Bonnet badges

I understand the black lotus bonnet badge was issued to commemorate Jim Clark's death in 1968. However my '72 sprint is also black badged, can anyone tell me why this might be?

This topic has been discussed ad nauseum on the forum and if you search "Black badge" and "Nose badge" in the search box (top right) you'll see what I mean

Your Sprint will have left the factory with Green/yellow in '72.

I have all sorts of colours of nose badge in my collection including a Union Jack variant. As mentioned the subject of the black badge and a connection with Jim Clark has been discussed at great length, it's a Lotus myth or legend and no one can give a definitive answer.
