+2 Jacking pin

PostPost by: Shiny_kit » Wed Aug 26, 2009 9:39 pm

My car didn't come with a jack, and they seem to go for silly money on Ebay, so I have bought a cortina jack, which is the same but does not have the locator pin for the jacking hole in the sill. Could somebody possibly measure the pin for me and post the dimensions, or even a quick sketch of it, so I can pass it on to my machinist friend who is going to turn it for me ?

Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem - the jack is from a Volvo of all things.

A much easier way is to use a bolt of the correct dimensions to slot into the hole - a nut either side on the plate of the jack and you're in business.

I could do that, I guess, but I would rather make up something a bit more subtle, if I can.

It's not a concours car, by any means, so it's not that, but it would be easy enough to turn the correct sized pin if I knew the dimensions. I also need to make up something to turn the jack with, as my bargain ford jack didn't come with the original handle either !

Inside diameter of mine .47" . My bolt is 1.5" long but not critical.

I have no idea which model Volvo my jack comes from but it's a scissor jack with a flat jacking plate that I've drilled a hole in to mount the bolt.

Good luck with your pin.

Thanks Brian. That's exactly what I needed.

It's a mark 1 Cortina jack - also Consul jacks are the same I think. I paid ?20 on ebay, which is about ?50 less than the last "proper" +2 jack I was bidding on. Just need to make up a handle for it now.
