Scott,
Do you need the whole sun visor including frame and covers or just the metal part. I have a pair of pretty good visor "frames" (the metal part) from my 70 Elan +2S that I am parting out. The covers (vinyl) are not worth saving but the frame are good and not rusted at all. Do yours look like the ones in the pictures because those are what mine look like.
Anybody else know if the ones from a Plus 2S will fit what Scott is lookind for?
Let me know and we can discuss.
Dan

A sun visor must have been optional on the convertible.
The attachment point extends to the A pillar and has a different plastic moulding to the screen pillar trim which covers the screws.
This visor design is different to the coupe.

The sun visors look just like the +2.
Mine are tatty and I'm looking for a more modern alternative. The plastic was fairly crude even when new and the years have not been kind. The hole cut in it to take the vanity mirror looks particularly crude!

OK, so know we know (well, maybe we know) that the Coupes may have had them, or maybe just SE's
The Elan was produced over a period of 11 years in 4 different series and sprint form.
There were Roadsters, Coupes, and Drop Head Coupes.
All the time that they were in production there were plenty of Lotus built parts, Lotus also used many, many parts from other manufactures. Most of these were bought and used because Lotus Got a deal on them as they were from a model of some manufacture that was out of production. When that source dried up another part was substituted, sometimes these changes ocured when Lotus was ready to update to a new series, sometimes they were running changes.
If you want an answer that does not conflict with others, you need to tell folks what you have. This will give the people that have a similar model/year a chance to answer and not have to say, "my Elan is not like that..."

If you were not too interested in originality, and had a set of metal frames, my old 65' 289 Cobra had visors made of dark green transmparent plexiglass. They were dark enough to block the sun, but transmparent enough to still see the road. Thought about them on many occasion when driving into the sun and didn't like have so much of the road blocked from my view by a solid visor.

My elan is a 1970 s4 se. The visor assemblys don't look much like what anyone else has posted. I'm away for Christmas soon so I'll post pics when I return. The car is just back from an engine/tranny rebuild and will soon be reregistered. Getting 148 hp @ 6500 rpm and still with a nice 1000 rpm idle. Sounds pretty formula 3 like. I have half-shafts that use a single rotoflex on each side. My next project is to replace them and then get the headlights and vacuum working correctly. Scott
