Does the plus 2 have the latice construction in door areas?

Just saw the link and thread on the Elan list regarding restoration of the lattice area around the doors. Does the plus 2 have a similar construction technique? I had read references to a galvanized steel piece in (I think) the rocker panel area of the plus 2 for seat belt mounting. Is this part of the puzzle or replace the lattice?

thx

Stu,

The baby Elan has a latice of steel (a bit like concrete reinforcing rod) around the door frames, sills etc. The latice is bonded into the fibreglass so replacement is a not a nice job.

The +2 has no such reinforcing. The body is entirely fibreglass with the extra reinforcing of the sill members. The original sill members rust very badly so check them! They rust from the ends so you can start by putting a screwdriver into the jacking point and seeing if it is still attached (mine had all rusted away when I got the car). They're not too hard to change and new ones are galvanised.
