Trimming the Interior

PostPost by: andyhodg » Fri Jan 12, 2007 9:17 am

Could anybody give me any guidance on how many hides would be required to trim the interior of a plus 2. I would like to do all seats, the quarter panels, the door cards, the centre console and possible the dash 'crash pad'

Many thanks

Depends on the size of the donor....Take my wife for example.....you could probably do what you want and make a nice tool roll for the boot......

John

Sorry,couldn't resist....

Andy,
Hides do vary in size. You can buy good italian upholstery hides for about ?2 per square foot. These hides run out at about 45-55 square foot each. I suppose you would need about three of these to trim a +2. This is a guess as I have never attempted a job as large as a whole car, although I may start on mine later this year.

it's the cream perforated headlining from Christopher Neil; we have some pretty talented upholsters here in Malta and labor costs near to nothing so im not going to bother doing it myself.
