jacking points

Hi guys!
The season for me is over and i have moved
the +2 into the garage for major works during
winter.
Where do i place the jack stands for the rear end
of the car. I know there is a jacking point
on the wishbone next to the rear hub, but
i want to remove the wishbone, rearhub and
dampers and need somewhere else to place the
jack stands. Its all glass fibre!
I suppose i could use the chassis frame but
the car is so low cant get the jack under there
with a wooden block for extra support.
Any suggetiones!
cheers

Hi, Jens;
Get a couple of cheap floor jacks - you're not lifting much weight - and put them under the wishbones, not forgetting to wedge the front wheels first, and lift the rear as high as you want it. Then put a piece of 2" x 6" board under the chassis with an axle stand on each side and lower the car onto it. I like to put a couple more axle stands somewhere else just for extra safety.
Good luck,

My solution to this problem is to back it up on a portable ramp (sold in car
parts stores). This gets the back end up in the air and it can then be
jacked higher using a block of wood cut into a u shape (to clear the exhaust
pipe) on the very rear of the frame. From that point you can either support
it on the wishbones or the rear corners of the fiberglass tub with a
wide-area support. I'd suggest o little saw horse of some description
running right across the rear of the tub.
Jacking up the rear is an ongoing problem and I leave the car almost
permanently on the ramps. Also don't leave the rear suspension dangling in
the air for a long period if you've still got rubber doughnuts. Support the
wishbones with a stand.

Back the rear wheels onto a couple of ramps made from 2X6 boards.
Cut another length of 2X6 wide enough to support across the back of
the tub and screw two shorter boards (maybe 12" long) on top ends of
the long 2X6.
Place a floor jack under the center of the 2X6 and jack up the rear.
The two boards on the top of the ends will leave a space in the
center for the exhaust pipe, etc.
When the rear is high enough, place jack stands under the ends of the
2X6 so you can take the jack out.
You should be able to do the same to the front of the car.

That's exactly what I use also. 2x6 boards. Gets it up enough to get
the jack under.
I also made up a little jig from a 1 foot long piece of 3x2 with a
couple of old mini engine mounts I had lying around and some angle iron
pieces that go against the chassis. Holds the weight of the car by the
chassis, exhaust goes through the middle and you can put stands under
it. Bit of wood with a cutout for the exhaust would work good too.
