Can anyone recommend a source for door seals of the correct type (UK)

SMS who resprayed my Elan last year recommended an alternative door seal from Woolies (http://www.woolies-trim.co.uk) as it`s softer and puts less stress on the car doors. You don`t want to have to slam the car door to make it shut if you can help it.

265A on the Woolies site looks similar to the original. Is that the one that was recommended?

Hi everybody,
this is a subject that has caused me some problems since I restored my S4 Elan. Using seals from Christopher Niel with a circular section sealing lip, the rear view of my car looks like a portrait of Prince Charles; before it was quite accepable with the original seals, which were so bad that I threw them away & I subsequently have no reference material.
Have any of you actually used the mentioned "Ford" (which Ford?) seals or the Woolies 265A seals. Do the doors fit O.K. with them?
Can the "Ford" seal be bought by the meter?
Can you tell me how many meters I would need for my S4 Drop head. Mine is all wrapped up for the Winter at the moment.

MacGregor British Car Parts in Dundas Ontario lists them, but I have not used anything from MacGregor.

I have door seals from MacGregor's on my S3 Coupe'. They actually allowe the door to close, the passenger perfectly, the driver with a little push at the final close. The first set I ordered elsewhere would not allow the doors to even remotely close. The doors are water tight as long as there is no force.

My 67 elan coupe is almost restored and ready to drive. With the old door seals off my car, the doors fit flush ( not warped !!!) lucky me.
After two attemps with seals that were not soft enough or to large, I called MacGregor's. (an elan owner) With his knowledge of the seal problems, his company carries soft seals that work, along with a close cell add on strip for wider openings to keep the water and wind noise out, if needed. It sounds like he has solved the seal problem. So I ordered the seals for the doors and boot lid.
It is worth a call to him. When they arrive I'll post the results

Pereirac,
Did you get answer from SMS which seals they used on your car? I've just got the new Woolies catalogue and as Tim says the 265A looks like it could be the one as its listed for tight fitting doors.

Hi, I just got in the doors seals for both doors and boot seal for my 67 elan coupe. I had ordered from two different suppliers in the states and the doors did not close properly. MacGregor British car parts UK out of Canada has the best fitting seals. Before I could only hope they would work and they do!!! I ordered an extra foam strip for those areas where a gap may show up but they were not needed. Hope that helps!

The Woolies seals which I have are "C" shaped rather than the standard "D" ones so they are a lot easier on the doors - if that makes sense. SMS who repainted my car for me recommended them.

i got some universal seal .cost me about 14 pound real cheap.after the dorrs have been shut a few times the seals find their own shape .as long as you dont t hear the road noise above 60 mph and water dont come in who cares i would say that its doing its job.the original was probably off some ford anyway.same with the boot.keeps the fumes out of the car.on all 1960's cars most of the dorr and boot seals were the same .not like today where everything seems to be made in china.
