Sealer for sills

Tried searching the forums but to no avail !!
I'm in the process of putting my sill members back into my Plus 2 but I need some sealer to seal then with !!!!
Can ordinary silicone sealer be used or do I need something automotive specific ???

Do you mean the sill closing plates in the wheelarches? I used mastic sealant on mine..

I forgot about the closing plates !!! But I was thinking about the plates that hold the sill member itself.
