The lens is definitely wrong for an Elan but the base and bezel could be harvested (wasn't someone here after a bezel recently?).

Further, I am always very wary of that seller. He has at least 5 aliarses that I know of. I have bought genuine nos Elan seat belts from him, which turned out to be fine, but a friend of mine did the same, and his pair of belts when carefully examined, showed that they were a cobbled together set of belts that had been restitched using bits and pieces from more than one set of belts.
Caveat emptor.

I have taken a longer look at the ebay item and I believe Leslie is indeed correct - sorry if I have misled anyone.
Looking at the bezel it looks as though it has a 'rolled' top edge and on a second look the proportions also look a little fat (I know like me!) for it to be correct.

Thanks mazzini - A photo of the bulb holder would be great.
I got the whole unit for my pound Just no bulb, bulb holder, or rubber grommet.
The rubber grommet looks like a spark plug shroud and I have tenuously linked the bulb holder to a Lambretta Speedo bulb holder - so need the photo to confirm

The lambretta bulb holders don't have the brown bit so are shorter.
It seems that the diameter is standard - I have some Hella headlamps that have a side/pilot light and the holders fit ok.
I only paid ?4 for a pair of sill trims a few years ago so I'm reluctant to pay more than a tenner for the missing one! Not that I have even seen one.

I viewed the Peter Sellers S3 Elan last week. When it was being restored the Corello units were obtained from an Alfa Romeo dealer in Italy. Here is a photo of one of them fitted to the car.
The Sellers car was invoiced in July 1966. The Tim Mees alleged first S3 car was invoiced in Jun 1966.
And to answer an early question (albeit some seven years late!), the +2 Carello rear lamp units were fitted during mid to late 1967, to the very earliest cars. This would appear to indicate limited correlation between the Elan and the +2 assembly lines using Carello as a supplier at the same time.
Edit to add that, looking at Graham Hill's S3 invoiced in Mar 1967, it too has Corello indicators, so I may well be wrong about there being no correlation between the Type 36/45 and 50s.
