Plus 2 Chassis Resto

JonB than you very much. Originality is of no concern to me, if it handles better, is easier to maintain and is safer, what's not to like? Comments like the words of miles wilkins are probably due to it being better than the way lotus would have made them and they were probably a bit sore about it.
I am at this stage contemplating which engine to go for in mine, I wanted to make a replica of the Lotus test car and have a 900 series engine in it but that may be very difficult to do so I have narrowed it down to either a Zebec or a vauxhall red top!
Thanks for the support.
Best regards, Peter

There have been comments on here in the past about the DVLA considering that a Spyder chassis is not as per original and therefore the car may have to have a 'Q' plate on it!
How this would work considering there are so may cars around with Spyder chassis I know not but it would be seriously bad news for this to happen!

1. Don't tell them!
2. It's a subframe.
3. They were in period available and wasn't there a period you could not get lotus?

Point 3 is pertinent I believe.

According to Spyder, the first of their replacement sub frames was available 10 years after production stopped. I didn?t ask if this was the folded steel or space frame variant, but one would have a case to argue, at least.

If the car you have was already registered and you have a V5, the question of a Q plate is moot. However, the ?replacement chassis is / is not a modification? becomes important when considering the Historic Vehicle status, an thus the MOT and tax exemption.

That is a very good point which I had not considered...
I think the best option would be, since I have a log book, V5 and all of the other neccesities, to finish the car and not mention the chassis change!
