The finish on my original 69 S4 dash was glossy.
Not sure about the reference by another poster about taking away the wet look so it looks original. My original (and now replacement) was and is glossy.
Perhaps different with earlier series Elans?

As for the bolt holding nuts in the bodywork, I've recently fitted 'floating anchor nuts'.

I'm sure you can source them locally. Rivet in and they allow a degree of tolerance.
