Jono,
Thanks for weighing into this discussion with another gorgeous shot of your beautiful wedgewood Plus 2. Beautiful. And the lighting/colour looks accurate, to my eyes.
Frank, did you not determine that the colour you used on that Elan was the mysterious Medici Blue? A darker, grey-blue? (By the way, I've loved that colour with the silver/grey hardtop ever since I saw your pix some time ago).

Randy,
Nope, my S2 SE is more of a blue / gray. It is NOT Medici Blue. My good friend George has Medici Blue and is substantially different but also extremely good looking. I also owned a Medici Blue S2 many years ago. I do know that color very well. My old Medici Blue was sold to Jack Martin in Arkansas. I should never have sold that one either!!!
What does yours look like Randy?

Got it. Thanks for clarifying, Frank. And nice to know there are some nice Lotus blues to choose from.
Currently I'm thinking of Lotus Glacier Blue metallic for mine, though the colour was not offered till two years after my car was produced (unfortunately, I do not like the original Bahama Yellow, and it is now just a memory - and some paint chips in a ziplock baggie )
At the risk of temporarily highjacking this thread (and thanks for asking, Frank . . . ), here's the state of my car currently. All fiberglass repairs and gelcoat cracks are done, shell is skim-coated and blocked out, boot lid and bonnet and headlamp bowls are mostly fitted and gapped, and working now on fitting doors (amazingly complicated, at least for me!) . . .

I know this thread is quite old now but I thought I would just add to it. A while back I was looking to paint my car pale blue (was originally lagoon blue). I looked at Wedgewood blue and French blue, then a friend showed me his pretty little baby Elan in Medici Blue. I searched for a code or a formula but could not find one. I kept seeing a Fiat 500 in my home town (in the UK) in a very nice blue that seemed close, so I decided to go with that. It is called Volare Blue. I don't know how close it is to Medici, will not know until I get to compare cars side by side. Here it is in the spray shop.

Apparently it is a 2 pack i.e. a "solid" paint, doesn't have a separate laquer.

Right. Thanks.
Over here, "2 pack" means a catalyzed paint: uses a separate catalyst or "hardener".
"2 stage" means using a separate base or colour coat and then a clear (what Brits call a "lacquer")
Looks beautiful. And I like solid colours with no clear over top. The colour is so "touchable" and right on the surface. Very period looking.

Thanks Randy. I'm certainly pleased with the choice of colour. This particular car is a long term project so it may be quite a while before it's on the road and I get a chance to compare with a Medici blue car. I have another +2 which is close to completion, that one done by the same paint man is in tartan red.

Gentlemen, thanks for all the feedback and photos.
Mine turned out like this. The photo was taken a few moths ago and on my screen it looks close to reality. The color is an Alfa Romeo Azzuro metallic paint.
