What makes you think I can find a boot mat out of any of the 4 Cortina mk1's around to compare it too? May take the rest of the Winter...

The material is aligator, very similar to the interior but a lot lighter, the whole mat is under a pound.

I ought fire the guy that washed it, looks like he missed a bit around the edging

Gary, that look pretty much the same as my Mexico boot mat. I think that this material is called Hardura, and was used on most Brit cars in the 60s, certainly in Fords, MG, Healey, E Types and Triumph. It is available from Aldridge Trimming, Woolies etc.. Thanks Gary....another piece of the S2 jigsaw!

I traced out the perimeter of the S2 boot floor cover and gridded it off in 3 inch squares, I think the photo may??? be enough to construct one. The overall length was 35 inches, maybe a 1/4 inch less and the width was 52 inches.

I'll bring the pattern up to Ayer on Wednesday for you Bill, you will probably need some modifications for the S3 SS anyhow.

Gary,

I may have one of those mats from my project S2, but more importantly, I bought a NOS one from Lotus East when they were disposing of their stocks after Lotus UK shut them down. I used it in my pre-airflow FHC back in the early 80s, and it is still in very nice condition. A real good one for a pattern, S3-S4. I had a Mk1 Cortina GT long time ago and IIRC, they are the same material. At least they'd be the closest we could come. Seems like I remember the Mk2 Cortina mats not having the same shiny top surface as the Mk1 and these Elan mats. The Elan mats too have bound edges, a very classy yet utility item.

Oh, and the S1-2 mats are different from the S3-4 ones, as the S3-on has the battery in the boot.

Good to see your golden enjoys the Elan too.

Beauregard is listening to the water running under the road (near the guard rail)and just can't help himself. He got out shortly after the pictures and did some pool inspection and seemed to enjoy it some.
