I am putting my plus 2 back together and I am having problems with the doors. Has anyone got any tips for getting them to line up and shut correctly? I have used the spacers the previous owner removed in the corresponding places but on both doors I have sag and the doors have to be lifted to close, is this a common problem can I buy and fit new hinges or bushes? Any help or advice would be great also when is the next Lotus show/meet in the UK? and are there any plus 2 owners in Essex I could have a chat to about serveral other issues thanks again

I adjusted my doors by using a scissor jack out on the end of the opened door, bit of trial and error, carefully, jack it up AFTER loosening the adjuster if you're having to lift the door to close, tighten the bolts, try shutting the door, re loosen and adjust up or down as necessary. Keep the adjuster a little snug throughout the process but no cracking sounds allowed. If your shims are replaced properly, the door should already be fitting flush on the outside. Do you have a shop manual?

sounds like your plastic door bushes are worn(generally drivers side),these are the same part as trunion bushes,am shortly going to investigate longer bushes(more bearing surface-longer lasting)
the only way to cure your door dropping is to replace the bushes

I think it depends on how much they're dropping. Mine did/does 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch, drug on the sill. I read the manual, now it clickcloses perfectly. It's been working fine for years. Lotus Elan +2 shop manual section B.16 - DOORS. To Adjust. Text on pages 29 and 31 plus a detailed full page illustration on page 30. I can send a copy via email. Make sure it's not the lock striker plate (don't unscrew one of those all the way) adjustment. How does the door fit in the frame?
