Does anyone know where I can get replacements for the black rubber diaphram that provides the support under the seats on a +2S? Alternatively which car did they originate from?

And add a headrest too..... removable when you need to use the back seats. Mine has a specially made piece of canvas and new foam. Very comfortable....

Is it true that the American spec +2's had high back seats with built in headrests? The lack of head restraints is the only thing that I do not like about my +2. That and the fact that it is in bits at the moment.
Zetec+ 2 under const, also 130S. And another 130S for complete restoration. Previously Racing green +2s with green tints. Yellow +2 and a couple of others, all missed. Great to be back 04/11/2021 although its all starting to get a bit out of control.

I've seen a Plus 2 with X1/9 seats fitted, which of course have head restraints. Looked good too...

Hello Berni 29,
My US version '69 +2 has the original high backed seats. Safety good, practicality bad. When tilted forward the headrest enters the (original) headliner long before its desired forward tilt position. So far, one small tear on passenger side headliner but I know more are coming. If you don't "need" access to the rear seats they're great. I think the X1/9 seat idea sounds great. There are many choices for alternative seats that hinge at the base. Geo Metro LSi, (Vauxhall?) Suzuki Swift, some "hot rod" Toyota, Subaru, and Honda models have terrific seats. Salvage yards, here we come. Keep the originals for resale value, get comfortable in something newer, lighter and ?safer.

I support the suggestion to strengthen the back supports. Mine broke just above the pivot points. (Its circular tube)
