Losing Your Windscreen

Don't even think about it!
You would be asking for trouble.
When you are travelling at speed the negative pressure on your hood ie the forces pulling upwards are very high. On one of my Elans the hood used to pull out of the frame at the top and a friend had the frame locating bobbin pull out at the front corner I can only imagine how bad it would be with the frame moving around.
Be better to fix it properly methinks

Well I dont have a rod and cant even see were it fixed if ever. Did they all have them?
Were under the dash does it fit?
I was looking at Donnington at some of the elans and a couple didnt have the rod either.
Cant tell if the DPO removed it during the body off resto or not. But I have never had a problem running at speed hood on or off. But I mostly have the hood off mind you. If its raining I use the Ford.

My car has a rod.I just wonder if cars without rods were originally FHC's. If you have a hard top then I assume you don't need the rod to hold the windscreen frame together. The hood on my DHC always used to pull off at any speed above 50mph!!
