Boot Lock Detached

The boot lock mechanism has come loose from the body on my plus 2. This means when you pull the cable the mechanism moves meaning it may well be unable to unlock and hence open. What’s the best fix for reattaching this solidly? Considering rivets. Advice or pics appreciated.
