1970 S4 paint decisions

Hello

Just had a nice fellow round to discuss paint options for my S4. From the factory it was L01 British Racing Green and I am thinking about keeping that colour, mostly because it's original but also it seems to be a bit rare. However, there are a few other things I wanted to ask as regards originality:

  • Some areas round the sills were originally painted black, but where? The whole sill up to the underside of the stainless trim, or just the little flange at the bottom?
  • I know the underside of the bonnet and engine bay were painted satin black, but was the boot and underside of the boot lid also satin black?
  • Anywhere else I should know about, that wasn't painted in the "main" colour?

Thanks

Jon,

The small flange at the bottom of the sill is black.

The underside of the boot lid is body colour.

The boot area is black.

The engine bay and underside of the bonnet is black.

Satin black is what most folk paint it.

However, there was a Lotus paint code, LO8 non-gloss matt black which was used, except for the grey used in Bourne bodied Elans.
