S3 glovebox

My car is #5727 (pre airflow) and I have the corner hinges with the pull handle and push button locking mechanism.
My lock catches a small metal clip that is screwed to the dashboard.
I have what looks to be the original glove box on my pre airflow Coupe. I was wondering what the purpose
is for the two large holes in the glovebox and the upper bracket mounting piece (circled in red)?

Greg,
I think the two holes in the top of the glove box are for the S4 touch latch type of catch.
Hope this helps,
Richard Hawkins

I'm sure Richard is correct for the S4 as mine was exactly the same. The touch catch on mine was like this https://www.screwfix.com/p/hardware-sol ... lsrc=aw.ds The large holes would give some adjustment when fixing the catch to the glove box.
I replaced mine with a magnetic touch catch like this https://www.first4magnets.com/magnet-ma ... ps_2_16730
There's also a whole topic on glovebox signatures here viewtopic.php?t=46773&p=339748
edit: I see you've already posted on that one , but it is interesting for others to visit.

So, It's possible that this glove box (you can see the part number 36B 195 if you view downward from
the circled holes) has been placed on a replacement dash, sometime in the past. The door definitely
belongs to this dash and it's hardware mechanisms aren't even close to what you guys posted.
Or, the glovebox is a replacement that covers multiple models.
Thanks guys, quite helpful.

Greg,
My 200 earlier FHC only had a handle on the outside, with a latch on the inside. There is a nylon catch on the inside of the box, I believe fastened thru those holes. These pieces were Cortina latches for the GT and Lotus center console I'm still up north and may be for another month.

Greg,
Your pre-airflow has corner hinges while mine has the piano hinges. I wonder when that changed over. I'll have to take a look at my white car. It's from early 6xxx.
I just talked to Ken at DBE about several things but one was the nylon "catch" which is a Ford part and 113E part number in the blue parts book. He doesn't have any at present, but I told him I'd share another source a friend has found. Mine is at least from about 1980 and may not want to wake up from its long rest.
