S1 S2 nose versus S3

PostPost by: gjz30075 » Wed Jun 01, 2022 12:48 pm

Hi all, I've been looking for a nose section for my S3 pre airflow coupe for some time now with no luck.
As I understand it, the S1 and S2 noses have a different distance from the bottom of the headlight bucket
to the top of the bumper, from one side to the other, whereas the S3 and S4 are equal distance.

I'm wondering now if my Coupe, 36/5727 should have an S2 nose, rather than an S3 nose, which is currently
on the car, poorly repaired.

Can anyone with a VIN around mine, with original fiberglass verify what my car *should* have?

Interestingly, a BaT ad just popped up for 36/5458 and it looks to have an S2 nose

Can't seem to post a picture due to its webp extension and won't allow a rename of the file.

I have 36/4970......it has original bodywork and has an S3 nose (front end) as it left the factory...... Why wouldn't it?..

Hope that helps.....

I have 5525. Original nose. I can take pics or measurements if you need me to.

I have no idea on the S1,S2,S3 question, but when I ordered the certificate of provenance from Lotus, the historian told me the Coupe is none of the above. It's just an Elan Coupe, a distinct model from the S2 and S3. How that relates to what nose they used, I have no knowledge.
