Could someone tell me if there is an existing topic on the proper shape of the fender/wing transition to the actual wheel well, and if so point me in that direction.
I'm restoring a S3 S/E, and while there is plenty of information on wheel flares, I haven't found much on the shape of the original body to wheel well transition.
Specifically I would like to know if the cross section of the transition is fully radiused or if the is a flat portion, about 1/4" wide vertical to the ground spanning from about the 10 o'clock position to the 2 o'clock position when looking at the wheel well from the side.
Also did the cars come new from the factory with the holes through the fiberglass at the hinge bobbins?
Thanks,
Paul

Thanks for the response. I appreciate it. What about the holes shown on the top of the actual door?

are there heads to the bolts, can you adjust the door with them?

Yes there are heads to the bolt. The bolts come up from the inside of the door and attach the hinge inside the door. They are used for hinge adjustment.

I think there may be a drain line that runs from that area via a metal tube to the under side if the door.

Can I advise you to change your user name from your email address. The bots will pick it up and you’ll get loads of spam.

Yes they did, normally painted over.

'I think there may be a drain line that runs from that area via a metal tube to the under side if the door.'

The drain hole is in the channel and is connected via a plastic type of grommet and a plastic tube that takes water down from the channel to the bottom of the door. You don't see many cars fitted with those details today.
