Boot / Trunk Lid

PostPost by: Mazzini » Thu Mar 04, 2021 8:09 pm

There is a really nice S4 S/E dhc for sale on the PMS website. The inner boot lid is painted satin black. I've seen a few cars like that. Thirty-seven years ago the late Mick Miller told me that he painted the inside of the boot lid in body colour, but he didn't polish it. I can't remember if he said that was how the factory did it. I wonder did the factory paint the inner lid in body colour or black or in true Lotus tradition - both, depending on how the fella on the line felt that day.

My 69 S4SE DHC had the boot lid interior painted in body color from the factory. Was finished reasonably. Not an overspray.

That I don't remember. Perhaps in the spare tire cavity or otherwise loose. inside a black burlap sack. with the knock-off hammer and wrench/adapter for the Nader nuts.

My factory tool set was stolen during transport back to the states so I think that was loose in the boot.

My Boerne body S 1 has never been painted in all of its repaints and remains grey, tatty but grey. My 70 +2s was painted body color, as was a very original S 3 elan that I once had. Gary
