S3 door handles and latches

I'm having a problem with trying to get a pair of NOS door handles to fit my current
latch. The bottom door handle is the one from the car. It works fine, the latch works
fine but I'm wondering why someone would bend the bolt (blue circle), from the handle, that pushes
on the tab of the latch? The wear mark on the latch show it to be right at the outer edge(green
circle).
Also, why is the locking mechanism extension pieces different (red circle)? Every one I've seen for
sale show what my NOS handle has, ie, a rounded extension piece and the current handle
has a small angle piece that looks like it was brazed on . The NOS piece does NOT want
to fit the latch.
So, do I have a modified handle, re: the angle piece for the locking mechanism? Or,
is my latch incorrect?

No reason I can think of, it’s adjustable for length as you know. I had quite a bit of trouble with adjusting the lock unlock using the key and internal release handle. The slot in the latch seemed much too long regard the throw of lever produced by the key.

It seems the tab for unlatching on the latch has been twisted a bit. I reformed the tab to be
straight and now all's well.
That slot in the latch does seem a bit long but I didn't have any problem locking/unlocking
with the old handle and key but I'll pay attention to this when I assemble with the new handle.
Thanks Craven!
