Hi, I am having a heck of a time finding a new windshield. I have been told by R D enterprises that their source is out of business. I also was told its the same windshield as a Ford Capri Mk1...not sure if thats accurate or helps since they were Mercury here in the States. The other name suggested was Pilkington but they dont have them either. Any suggestions or does anyone have a stash! Thx James

For me the Ford Capri mk 1 /Ford Classic is for the +2 Elan or TVR M series.

It took me five months to get an S4 windshield in the US. Put on order with Pilkington and then kept checking with them until it came in.
There are windscreens available from the UK, but packaging and shipping is pricey. Not always genuine Triplex and fitment reported as not always good compared with original.

I bought a non-Pilkington one from the group buy about 4 years ago. It was about 1/2" undersize all the way around and fit very poorly. YMMV

There is no cure for Lotus, only treatment.

A word of caution from a previous post (search for Ricky Evans):
I had a new (unheated) windscreen (S4) supplied by Ricky Evans Motorsport (https://www.heatedwindscreen.com/) in December 2016.
I noticed yesterday that it has failed and opaque 'fingers' are creeping across the windscreen from the RH lower side. The windscreen was fitted by an outstanding local glassworks who are experienced in fitting to classic cars.
I'm currently in discussion with Ricky Evans Motorsport but Rick has denied that he has any control over the use of the windscreen and offers no warranty (except on heated screens when the element has a year's warranty). I'll update in a week or so when I see if a replacement is a possibility.
I'm in the UK, so if you're considering a group buy in the USA perhaps you should also factor in the possible cost of replacing faulty goods.

James,
I'd keep trying w/ Pilkington, since they are the actual sales arm for the triplex screens. I bought the screen that we installed in my DHC 10 years ago. At that time, I bought from a distributor somewhere in New England and told them I would pick up, since I found Pilkington was going to supply it and they are in a suburb of Columbus.
When I was there picking it up, I was encouraged that I could buy directly from them in the future. They are not a small operation either.

An extra word of caution...
As recently mentioned under S1/S2 windscreens, I have tried both Pilkington and Ricky Evans bought in the last 18 months. Both were totally unfittable without doing major surgery to the frame.
I understand the Ricky Evans (via TTR) are on the point of making a new screen for the S1/S2 to correct the issue but I'm not sure this has come out officially.
If you have an existing windscreen that can be restored or copied..I suggest that you keep it in a safe place as it will be more easy to have copied if your S3/S4 replacement screen is a disappointment.
I hope this word of caution helps!

The Pilkington S4 screen that I got last year fit perfectly. No modifications required.
There is a different catalog number for earlier Elan models.
I reiterated several times with Pilkington that I wanted an S4 version in clear (as opposed to Sundym).
After researching this topic ad nauseam, I came to the conclusion that Pilkington was the only way to go. Just have to be patient. They fulfill orders about every 6 months. Windshields are now made in Finland.
The fellow to talk to at Pilkington is:

I would reiterate that you should follow up periodically with him. He says he will call you when it comes in but I found that not entirely to be true. The Elan windshields go fast when they arrive, don't lose your position in line.

I wonder if you have tried "UROGLAS" and they do ship screens.

I also bought my Sprint screen from Pilkington Classics in Ohio, part number HT025 GN, cost me $155 in 2015.

Maybe just the US (Ohio) operation?
Here is the listing on the Pilkington UK website:

Announcement:
27 Mar 2020
Ensuring the safety of our employees, customers and supply chain partners remains our top priority.
However, we also have to be ready to take action to protect our business at this time.
We have therefore decided to close our merchant sites by the end of this week, with processing sites due to close at the end of next week.
Unless government guidelines change, we are planning to continue running our essential operations, including our continuous cycle manufacturing line, and will ensure that the specialist staff needed to support those can come to work while adhering to social distancing rules.
Also, I found no announcement of any closure of Pilkington Classics in their corporate news releases going back a year.
