Hi all, Has anybody used a non-mobile fitter to replace the dreaded bonded screen on a S130.
I understand the problems involved with the plastic trim etc. Spyder have given me a quote, but they are charging so much more for the screen than Sue Miller's whose are Pilkingtons, Spyders are not.
I expect Spyders are the only choice. There labour is 5 hours
Regards John

I have seen these guys do some complex work.
They are used by the classic Ferrari specialists.

OP - do you not fancy giving it a go?
There's a post on here by Innes who restored a JPS Plus 2 where he provides a very detailed account of the doing the screen, complete with photos. He did a great job and, with all due respect to him, I think he was only in his early twenties! (I say that only because patience seems to be in short supply in the younger generation these days)
Personally I could not resist the challenge!

That is certainly a non starter for me, I admire a non professional who has the confidence to attempt it.
I the reason for changing is cosmetic ----- the chrome trim.
I am lucky to have three Lotus specialists within reasonable distance. Kelvedon won't do it, suggested normal fitters, SMS actually said use Spyder. Sue Miller said try SMS.

I met this guy when I had a stone chip repaired on my Plus 2. (In order to hopefully prevent me having to disturb my chrome trim surround in the near future!) He has premises in Lincoln, and I thought he was very impressive. Looks like he?s close enough to for you to meet, discuss and make your own assessment??

I know some ?high-end? local car dealers use him, as well as his classic car experience.

Where, then, lies the answer? In choice. Which shall it be: bankruptcy of purse or bankruptcy of life?
