Does anyone out there have a suitable switch ST that they would consider selling to me?.....or could advise me where I might pick one up? or is it just a tinterweb trawl???

This thread describes taking a switch apart to repair/clean it. Would this work for you?

You could perhaps solder a wire to the contact inside the switch?

Hi Bob,
Hopefully someone on here will have a spare but in case not.....
You're probably aware that reproduction switches are available although I think I've read that they do not match the originals exactly. SJ Sportscars list a SPST washer switch.......

Also from Paul Matty ...
https://paulmattysportscars.co.uk/produ ... er-switch/
There is also a headlamp switch on ebay at the moment which would do the job .. although it will be a DT switch. Bit scruffy looking but would probably clean up. No connection to me.

Good luck !

Thanks gentlemen
I'm going to try nicks suggestion and dismantle the switch (how hard can it be?) see if I can do a bit of brain surgery. I spent quite a bit of effort to get them back into shape cometically and dont really want to throw it away.
I may well have to take up other options ifn I fail.
I'd be interested to know in what respect the switches from usual suspects differ cosmetically
Regards
Bob

If you are up for a bit of a gamble, buy a new switch and see if you can pirate bits out of the new switch to make the old switch whole again. If you do this, and can make it work, it may help many of us in the future.

SJ sports cars have some switches which should work, try

I have never seen an Elan with a hazard light switch there?
They are pretty quick on delivery

Hello People
Fixed It!!!
I followed the link lotus-electrical-f38/wiper-switch-from-ray-dent-t32124.html took the route suggested, stripped the switch, gently drilled out the old contact, made up a new copper contact stud, making the tail slightly longer than original, inserted into the moulding with super glue (sparingly) soldered a cable to the outside (was going to try to rivet it but feared cracking the plastic case) Sparingly araldited over the soldered connection on the outside of the case, reassembled the switch, crimped a male spade and insulating cover on the cable. Tested repeatedly functionality and replaced in the dash. And Bob as they say, is your uncle....er no sorry, thats me.
Thanks to all for assistance
Regards

Well done Bob, glad you got it sorted.
There's nothing that can't be fixed ....... unless of course it's already been mended beyond repair
I take it we can expect to see the video on YouTube shortly.

Hello Alan
My original dash board veneer delaminated, so, since I was doing considerable restoration works anyway I decided to replace it. The opportunity was there to fit a decent matching hazard switch. So I did. The decision was made decades ago and I cant remember where the original switch was fitted.

Thanks Bob,
for sure it's an added safety thing.
I hope you can get all 4 flashers to work at a decent speed. I have problems for the flashers to operate at a decent speed just for turning
