+2S quarter lights

PostPost by: bob_rich » Tue May 28, 2013 9:49 am

Hi Folks

Still looking for the rubbers for the quarterlights verticals that I mentioned in my earlier post (19th may 10:37). They dont seem available yet but I am sure someone must have replaced then with something that does a fair job. With regard to the door assembly I have atatched a file with a picture marked with what I would call a "quarter light finisher" a small chromed angled part and the front bottom of the quarter light on the outside of the window frame. I have seen these on several cars and the ones on mine were badly rotted and so I need to replace them. They are not in the lotus parts list I have so hopefully someone can cast some light on them

thanks in advance for any help.

Bob

The part is shown in pictures with the door in the +2 parts manual. It is listed as 050B1010 as a "finisher". It might not be too bad to make up but it does have some differing angles in it. Gordon Sauer

They are called 'finishers', as per Gordon above, and come up on ebay from time to time. Don't cost much.

I'm having problems fitting mine as the screw holes don't line up with any holes in the frame - they're not the original ones for the window surrounds. Looks like I'll have to drill new holes.

I may have a spare one or even pair - give me a PM if you are interested.

Oddly, the top hole location actually shares the hole of the top brass screw that secures the lower L-shaped metal strip that's at the bottom of the quarter window. Gordon Sauer

That's what I thought but try as I might it does not line up! It's near on the passenger side but way out on the drivers side. Have put a post asking for help on this.

Thanks for the feedback folks

I have now seen that in the +2 parts manual it does refer to the finishers but does not show them as a item in the picture. I suppose this may be because it fits between two items both the window frame and the door itself.

Cant comment on how difficult they are to fit as not got to thay stage yet. real hold is the quarter light vertical rubbers. If anyone knows of an alternative would be very interested to know

thanks for help

Is this what you're looking for - see pic? If yes then I have one vertical - PM me again

You could try buying a shabby set of window surrounds that come with the seals - have seen them on ebay.

Hi Tony

That does not look quite like the ones I removed but I need all 4 which is a total length of 70" (1.78m) ( 2off each BL5 and BL6). Thanks for the offer though. I have sent U a PM about the finishers--but I do not find the PM system now the web site has changed very instinctive to use and I may not have sent them. Let me know if you dont get a response -- was happy with your offer though

regards

Here's the picture in the parts manual, it's the upper left most piece. I've also made a drawing of it in case you want to try to duplicate it although there are several bends and it is pretty hearty metal. Gordon Sauer

Do you mean what's in pic below? I have two of these. I think they are BL6 and the one before is BL5.

Didn't get a PM but will send you my email address via PM.

Hi all

Thanks for all the advise and responses. Thanks Gordon for the drawing of the finisher. I think I have found one form another poster now but it is nice to have the info in case I need to make some up. My parts manual has has got the picture it was in section BC which makes sense as it fits to the door as well as the window frame

thanks once again all for help
