Boot Back Board - Signature

Hi All,
I was about to throw out the very tired backboard from the S3.
As it hit the ground in the rubbish pile I noticed a signature in pencil.
I'll have to keep it now!
Any suggestions on how to straighten, flatten, paint, cover, etc?
Any ideas on the signature?

Would you be kind enough to post a shot of the whole backboard (well what the mice haven't eaten), I have been looking for a while of a picture of an original S3 backboard to see just what they look like ? - I am planning to replace the very tatty item in my S3 but am unsure if it is the same as the S4/Sprint version but without the holes (maybe for lamp access) at either end.
Both Sue Miller & S.J. Sportscars list S4 boards as being available, and Woolies Trim can supply the black millboard material in sheet form if its of interest.

Paul,
Yes it is the same as the S4 but without the holes. Both have the same part number.
S4 is the top one.
The holes for the screw to the mounting bracket are in different places - About an inch further out at each end on the S3. I don't think the larger hole on the S3 board should be that large (Just a screw hole?)

Thanks for the picture, and its helpful to see the two versions along side each other. It confirms the one I have is an original S3 type.
I have just had another look at the S & J Sports cars site and they also list a replacement mounting bracket for the backboard.

Hello,
I need to change a damaged Boot back Board (71 Sprint), but when I see the S4 version (pic above) it seems to be quiet different (flat shape, cardboard material?) of the one in my car (pics attached)
Can you pelase confirm to me that the back boards sold by Sue and S&J SportsCar are the original/correct replacement?
Thanks a lot!
Vincent

Vincent, yours looks like a replacement. I've seen several replacement (over the counter, aftermarket)
boards and they don't have any grain on the surface. I, too, am hoping to get a good replacement for
my Sprint. I believe Sue M's board is a proper replacement but she was reluctant to ship it to me for
fear of damage and cost (I'm in the US).

Hi All,
Might be of interest to someone. I am in the process of fitting this new S3 boot backboard (new from Sue Miller) Looks very original, nice period textured finish millboard. I managed to find the mounting brackets in a cardboard box in the loft, they were removed in 1983
