Maybe I've been here too long but I'm becoming convinced that there should be a 3 month warming-up period before new arrivals are allowed to post.
Did you try the search function? Did it give you just too many answers?
Welcome to the forum.

Hi Pete,
I think you are probably right as it takes a long time to find out how to navigate yourself round this site. It's certainly not easy for a newcomer. As I said elsewhere I have luckily been on holiday for the last two weeks and have had the time. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading all sorts of Elan things in the archives and elsewhere but it took a lot of trial and error to find things.
Regards
Anthony

Nah, too long for one thing and anyway the new persons questions keep the forum ticking over.
If they dashed in read exactly what they wanted & departed, they would just be ghosts that we never heard of.
Though there is a case for saying that they must read say 50 topics before being allowed to post.

Welcome aboard.
Here is a link to Golden Gate club site with several crossover items. I think we had a thread a while ago trying to ID more of them. One that comes to mind is the window lift motors as GM/Delco; sure there are more.

This thread has some info and describes some of the issues in creating a good list:

Cheers. Do you have some pic's of your car?

What a shame not to be more welcoming. Like all clubs new members need to be encouraged. What new ideas and information could be lost by an unwelcomming post.

I agree ? it is very disappointing that there are those on the forum who would have it as some sort of elitist clique ? ignore them (him) ? elan net is forum for the exchange of knowledge and experience it?s not just a search engine ? no one should be discouraged from asking for advice or sharing their experiences new to the forum or old.

Quick adder for the OP...
The book "Authentic Lotus Elan & Plus 2, 1962 - 1974" by Paul Robinshaw & Christopher Ross has a section that provides equivalent parts and alternative suppliers. You can get a reprint of the book here; although it is not original print quality it has the parts info. The book makes a pretty cool read as well...

...or as mentioned by several, continue to ask.

Welcome to he board and ignore the frankly rather rude reception you got from some posters. Early Plus 2 door handles were originally from the Austin/Morris 1100 range (now appraently classics) and later ones (Plus 2S) were Triumph Dolomite/1300/1500 saloons IIRC.

Welcome aboard i dont think sarcastic posts are required for new members however they are meant else they wont bother in future also sometimes it is easier to ask a question than search for ages.
