Hello David,
This topic has been discussed ad nauseum on the forum and if you search "Black badge" and "Nose badge" in the search box (top right) you'll see what I mean
Your Sprint will have left the factory with Green/yellow in '72.

Hello David,
I have all sorts of colours of nose badge in my collection including a Union Jack variant. As mentioned the subject of the black badge and a connection with Jim Clark has been discussed at great length, it's a Lotus myth or legend and no one can give a definitive answer.
