S1 Door Seals

PostPost by: jkatthehelm » Thu Apr 13, 2006 9:44 am

My '64 S1 was passed to me with no door seals, and the (original) manual is not helpful on the point!
Can anyone help me know how they fit? One problem I see is that there is an aluminium capping strip next to the seat on the sill flange on both sides which would prevent the fitting of a seal - is this standard?
I am wondereing if the seals actually attach to the doors - any help or photos?
Thanks

Mine has a bare aluminum strip running the length of the threshold or bottom door opening on the body, and that's it. Nothing on the doors or anywhere else on the body opening.

The S1/S2 parts manual, on panel (BA27), shows a door seal. This same weather seal (26B323 it's part number in the new format is probably 026B0323) is called out for both the S1 and S2 Elans. The seal is bonded to the door. It is a hollow rubber seal with a single sharp bend and two radiused bends. The sharp bend fits to the bottom of the door where the roughly horizontal surface meets the verticle flange, on the interior side of the verticle flange. It extends up the forward and rear surfaces about half way.

I hope this helps.
