Elan S1 Hardtop

PostPost by: chrishawkins » Mon Nov 22, 2004 11:05 am

Hello,

(First post, hello to everyone)

Can someone give me some information regarding the avalability of S1 hard tops. I see Tony Thompson has them but i wondered if there were any others, or any secondhand ones.

Regards

Hi Chris

I did not see your question till very late this evening. There was a hardtop for sale on ebay until today and this is the second one I have seen on there in the past three months. You might want to keep a check.

So they are available, if you look on the ebay history file for Elan Hardtop it should tell you how much it went for to give you an idea against Thomson's prices.

Regards
Tony

The one on ebay went for a S3 and went for ?330. Tony Thompson charges ?345 + VAT for a new one. Given that the new one comes with mounting brackets (I assume) I would think it's better value than the ones on ebay.
Elan parts on ebay often seem to go for more than retail. I was after a bonnet spring a few months ago, it went for around ?9. I bought one yesterday from SUe Miller for ?7.50 including VAT!!
The original Lenham hard tops are still being made, have a look at http://www.classiccarsofkent.co.uk/lenham.htm
