Carpets

I am close to the end of my rebuild & have been spending a lot of time looking through the archives & contacting carpet suppliers in the US but have not found any carpeting that is close to the original. Has anyone on this group found a source that has carpet that matches the original loop pile? All the samples I have received so far have a smaller loop & the loops are randon & not inline as per the original. Since I have tried to keep my car as original as possible it is frustrating to not be able to make a very visible part of the car look like the original.

Iv'e got samples from Auto Mat, Gilbreath, Automotive interiors & LeBaron Bonney so far as well as looking at numerous web sites with no luck. As I said earlier the loop pile has a smaller stitch & is random & not in rows like the original. Looking on web sites the closest might be a Berber carpet that some sites have as a LLoyd true berber. It only appears to be used for mats.

Jeff, I sent them a sample of the original carpet & the two samples they sent back as their closest were like all the other samples I have received. The loop is too small & they are random.
Has anyone bought carpets from Sue Miller & can verify that they are the same as the original carpets?

You might also try ACC (Auto Custom Carpets) in Anniston, Alabama.

If they have what you want, I'm a dealer for them. Someday I'd like to drive there to see their samples in person and see their operation.

This is probably not going to be a great help but
Ken Myers once told me the carpets used in the Elan are the same as
Aston Martin used in the boot of their cars, so I guess his source for the carpets had an Aston Martin connection.

I contacted ACC Frank & they are sending me samples of the two loop pile carpets that they have. From my conversation with them I think the carpets are the same as the other samples I have received, so I am not hopeful that they are liike the original.

Aston use a Wilton Carpet which is a cut pile or Hardura in the boot.
