Yet another electric headlight motor conversion…

Yet another electric motor headlight conversion, this time using a Pontiac firebird motor. Taking inspiration from Dougal9887 I decided to convert to electric lift, the only slight snag is that unlike the MX5 motor the Pontiac motor doesn’t have a built in limit switch so I had to add a couple of microswitches and a small circuit to add power when the switch power was off. All worked well on the first attempt but a buzzing from the relay when switching to the lowering half of circuit suggested a back feed to the relay through the motor. One diode later and the back feed was gone. I’ve yet to install it but everything seems fine on the bench. I had to elongate the cam a little to test with no load as the motor tended to run on past the microswitches. With a little load it stops pretty much bang in the middle of the cam. I’ve attached the wiring diagram and it should work with any 12v DC a gear motor.
