Help! I need a dipstick and I'm not sure if the one I have is the correct length. Can you please let me know the length of the metal part i.e. excluding the handle?
thanks
Mike

What sump do you have?
If it's an ERA , you could do with making an extra hole for the dipstick in the fixing plate...
Selection..
Top , Ebay chinese specials
Middle Blacktop Zetec
Bottom Special for ERA (fixing plates)

Hi John,
I've got an Escort Zetec sump, my assumption is that the key factor is the depth of the oil level below the crank line so the depth of the sump shouldn't matter, hence my interest i the length of the standard Ford part.
I have a standard silver top Zetec windage tray and there is a suitable hole in that for the dipstick, all fits well. I have a new crated Focus engine and I've bought a new Ford dipstick tube to suit the engine, I'm just not sure that I have the correct dipstick.
Your picture tends to confirm that I have the correct part, thanks!

Keeping well..and busy. Shouldn't say this but could do with a longer lock-down to get through all the " stuff" I have to do...
