Zetec Motor

I am in the planning stages of a Plus 2 Zetec conversion. Can you tell me if this engine would be a good candidate as a starting point? It looks to me like an appropriate 2.0 black top..

Not to be extremist, but there are a few zetec built engines for not so much money. Think you can still get one from ford racing.

Into my 1991 Westfalia, but opted for the vw aba.

More than likely, ied take a low miles car-part, as you will need some of those parts. Spend a few bucks on the focus-power. Or get the low miles car-part resleeved with the appropriat oil pan pick-up tubes etc from Burton, Merlin or whoever the uk/euro suppliers are.

The heads are where you are going to want to save and have some extra money.

They don't state the mileage but at $234 it might be worth it just for ancillaries. It is also local to me. Thanks for the link h20. I'll have to do some research while I'm sequestered :)

I went with the Ford Racing motor quite awhile back. It's a 2002 motor. I don't think that they are doing Zetecs any more, having gone on to bigger and better things with the Duratec. I went this route because I'm going to use it pretty much as delivered. 130hp is enough for me at this point for a 2000lb street car. Yeah, I must be getting old.

I'd do more research before getting that motor. In looking at the folks that supply built up Zetec motors, you'll find that they are using 2000 and up motors to start with. I really can't tell you how they differ from the 1999 motor and how that might impact your ability to get performance parts for that block for your rebuild. You might be money ahead getting a long block like h20 suggested. You're going to toss most of the used motor before you're done. You'll end up with a different induction system, carbs or throttle bodies, anyway. I don't believe that the stock induction will fit into the space you have to work with.
