Plus 2 electric fuel pump

Hi

Wich is the best place for the electric fuel pump for a plus 2?
It?s possible in the boot?

In the Boot if you do some Plumbing.
Imho the best Pump is a low pressure "Huco" for Webers. No Pressure Regulator needed and very quiet.

because I always found that fuel was gravity fed at the mechanical fuel pump, I chose to mount my electric pump under the airbox.

I installed my fuel pump in the boot/trunk. Along with an inertia switch to cut the power and an electric solenoid valve to prevent the flow of fuel when the ignition is switched off, or the inertia switch is operated. Since the fuel tank feed is from the bottom, I wanted a method of shutting off fuel flow, should it be needed. The pump is mounted on rubber isolators, but can be heard when the ignition is switched on, and the pump is feeding the float bowls, but cannot be heard when the engine is running.

Mine is near the diff. Just spice it into the line.

I fitted a Huco under the carbs.

Luminated switch on the OS under dash trim. Pump isolated with plumbing washers!

Then it is easy to spin the engine fuel off / prime the carbs / pump the tank out for winter etc etc.

Basically same for me.

Facet cube pump mounted right side of car on the vertical fibreglass that forms the trunk front wall. Like this mounting point as the pump suction is fed by gravity, no additional fuel connections in the trunk, no need to seal trunk where the fuel ine enters/exits the trunk. I bought a spare pump but have never had an issue. Rubber mounted; can only be heard with the engine not running.

Ran a separate green power wire (hot in run & start, fused) in the rear loom during a rewiring project; alternative would be to trigger a trunk mounted relay from the fuel gauge power and get pump power feed from the battery with an in-line fuse.

Facet cube pump under the carbs with a Ford Mondeo inertia switch in the electric feed to it. It?s sounds noisy before the engine starts but you don?t notice it with the engine running. Might add some insulation to the mounting if it becomes annoying.

Good suggestions here regarding an inertial switch to shut the pump off in a crash. Looking around I found this generic kit that looks pretty good and easy to install. Provides the pump relay as well. There is a link to the installation instructions. They recommend mounting it in the trunk next to the fuel tank, which would work well with the Plus 2.

I found the impact switches at my local wreckers/breakers(recycle?) yard. From late model small Fords, and located in the trunk, on either side behind the trim panel. I think I paid $23-$30 for 5 of them. They control the electric fuel pumps, and a fuel line cut off switch on the Plus2, which has the fuel feed from the bottom of the tank.

Bought my switch on eBay for less than ?10. Tested it and fitted it on a bracket under the bonnet near the pump. Didn?t fit a relay but did run a new supply from a separate fuse that is ignition controlled.
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine!
