Wooden steering wheel

Can anyone throw some light on this steering wheel it is 13" diameter and was fitted to a S4 elan I have been told that it was a factory upgrade but Im, not so sure ?

Your link is not working but no matter, I can assure you that Lotus did not offer a wooden steering wheel 'upgrade' on the S4. In fact no steering wheel factory options were ever offered.

Wooden steering wheels were fitted to the Series 1 & 2 Elans (See: http://www.type26register.com/).

The woodrim wheels fitted to S1 and S2 Elans had a very slender rim. The wheel in the photos looks at least twice as thick. Ken

Sorry Tim I'm not very good with computers I think the pictures are now working. The steering wheel seems to have been manufactured by the same people as my original (recovered) could it have been for any other car?
