hi.
i have an elan +2 with a ford 1600 (6911m block) fitted. it has a cast iron exhaust manifold with a 1.5" system, i would like to fit a
stainless manifold with a bigger diameter system. can anyone suggest a decent supplier in the Chester , north west area.
thanks.

I'd recommend JP exhausts in Macclesfield, they've done a few systems for me & will be doing one for the elan....

hi,
does anyone have a +2 with a cross flow engine fitted? if so what does the exhaust manifold look like? when i took of the cast iron manifold i discovered that the chassis has been cut to accommodate the exhaust. not a good thing! the cast manifold i have is very wide, are their any alternatives?
i priced a bespoke manifold which came in at ?500+ and the car would be at the makers for at least a week.
i am having the chassis repaired and would prefer to fit a tubular manifold, i spoke to Mrs miller who had a customer in the shop who said that the twin cam manifold would fit my engine, however when i rang back to check she had spoken to an engineer who said that the twin c manifold did not fit the cross flow?
any help is always greatly appreciated.

I have fitted a crossflow to my +2 at present to try out the converted Isuzu 5 speed gearbox. I used the crossflow manifold flanges of a gt capri motor which had 1 and 4 as singles and 2 and 3 combined. Made up my own pipework from bends and straight pipe based on the original t/cam pipes. A lot of work but a lot of fun.

I think you'll find that 'most' Elans have the chassis trimmed to make the manifold clearance more comfortable. The sort of light trimming can be clearly seen in Graham's second picture - and will have no detrimental affect on chassis strength.
