Hi
Drove the car to work today from Chester to Liverpool. I am keeping the revs 3000 rpm till the engine beds in.
No obvious problems apart from a few rattles from windows and bits of trim.
However I think it needs longer legs, while it pulls fine an extra gear would be a great improvement. I will also check what ratio diff I have.
Was there a standard ratio fitted to all cars or were options available?
Also suffered petrol splashing from filler cap on right turns, but there are a few fixes on here.

I use a Monza style fuel filler cap on both my cars, it looks very similar to the original but has the advantage of not leaking http://www.opieoils.co.uk/pv-143316-mon ... wwodOrgD5w
Spyder modified my filler necks to suit, I don't think it's that difficult to do this.

Dear All,
I have posted a new topic on an upgrade to the Spyder linkage used with the MT75 gearbox here http://www.lotuselan.net/forums/elan-mods-f31/mt75-with-spyder-gear-linkage-anti-sizzle-upgrade-t34470.html
I have posted it separately to make it easier for searching for this subject.

two drive shafts that bolt on
a lower diff mount
an upper diff mount
two lower wishbones
two upper wishbones
two suspension carriers / uprights
two rear calipers
two rear disks
two disk protectors
I also have a small p bracket that i have no idea off..
I have no bolts for all these bits either
Does anyone know if I'm missing any parts to complete the rear??

Paul,
I have posted the question to Sean at Spyder, he may or may not come back with the answers depending on how busy he is.
From what I can see, you need all the bolts, the hubs, the upper rear damper mounts, and the dampers

And on second look...
While enjoying the morning sun in sunny Wiltshire..I now see I have 5 stud fixings on the drive shafts..I'll assume the set up came from a Granada Scorpio originally.
I'll have to dig out from the garage a set of shafts with four stud fixings.
While on this issue off fixing on wheels. Are the wheels used standard Ford offset or specialist made.?
I was considering keeping 13 inch but not sure if 14s are a better option.

Not long after I posted my previous reply, I got the following message from Sean at Spyder, hopefully you knew what you were buying and were not sold these parts as the "correct" items?
Hi Alan,
These parts are not standard Zetec Elan or +2 Zetec conversion parts so people had better be careful here,
from memory they were specials for someone to convert from live axle to independent suspension but not lotus.
The ford parts look ok and possibly the lower rear wishbones but even they look to have added brackets.
Regards
Sean

Alan.
Thanks for the info..I got sold them as spyder parts to covert a plus 2 to Ford based running gear.
I'll have to have a chat with Spyder and see what's good or not.
It cost a pretty penny too
but I do have a 3.62 LSD
Hope most is useful stuff

Hi all
sorry to be a pain but can some one take a few photos of a spyder rear suspension conversion. Reason being so I can see what I have or as it seems don't have. I have just mailed and received a reply from the seller of the parts saying "no possible refund as it clearly states in advert, viewing advised"
My mate picked them up for me.
so if someone could be so kind,I'm looking at how the diff mounts top and bottom
a picture of top and bottom wishbones and any rear anti roll bar mount.
The uprights too.
A lot I know but thanks in advance

Hi all,
I've only just found this link and have been using a Zetec +2S for about 5 years now and have covered about 25K in that time. I've had a few issues and done a few mods including Hawk Pads, rerouted stainless steel exhaust, fitted a Type 75 battery, MX5 seats and constructed a neat little jack set. and of course a lot of programming to the ECU maps.
regards
Colin
