Fuel injection options (Patton)

Thanks again.
I dug thru the website, but couldn't find anything related to charge robbing, only Siamesed ports. I can't wrap my head around how this is accommodated for without a cam position sensor. The distributor appears to be the only point for sensing 4 cycles, but the kit has a simple 4 lobe hall effect sensor in the distributor I believe?
The MS forum thread mentioned charge robbing but had no description of if or how they dealt with it. I suppose it may just be a limitation of the throttle body based controller?

Yes, I suspect it is only the intake valve vacuum when injector opening that brings the fuel in.
I recall that the late 80s GM did this, not the best. But, not bad.

Maybe

Maybe 376mpg was easier in the USA at the time, anyone know where this car is?

There have been some posts on here about charge robbing but I can't find them now.
Here's a link to the Emerald web site on the subject, and how to deal with it.

I know you already have the Patton kit but I do have experience fitting a Jenvey 4 barrel TBI kit on an MX5. I used a Motorsports Electronics ME442 ECU which has different options for timing the injection - continuous, intermittent and sequential. From my experience I know that early FI systems like Bosch Jectronic used intermittent which fired each injector on every stroke, half the required amount each time. So using two injectors on a four cylinder engine it would need to deliver the full amount on each stroke. This could be achieved with two Jenvey throttle bodies each with a single injector.

The Motorsports Electronics ECU is an excellent piece of kit and their support is excellent as well. It also allows you to fit coil on plug ignition for which they sell the parts, that would really make a difference, 10 bhp more an a 1.8 MX5.

Interestingly although I set it up initially to the ECU's inbuilt MAP sensor as the primary load, the tuners changed it so that the primary load is throttle position using the TPS. The pipe from the MAP sensor is left open to the atmosphere to allow the ECU to compensate for atmospheric pressure. You do need a crank position sensor and an idle control valve is worth having.

Good luck
