I have 15" Yoko A539s on one of my e21s. They are excellent all-round, wet or dry.
I have 13" A021s on the other, more grip than the 539s, but wearing faster
Though neither in the same league in the dry as the A048s, which are really street-legal slicks
That's an excellent recommendation; any tyre that'll make an E21 go round corners has to be good.
Oh the good old days when the BMW guys were totally clueless
Looks like those 539's will be the next set of tyres on my Elan
Cheers
John

Thanks for the comments chaps, Alan especially (I was hoping you'd join the thread ). It's a great help hearing opinions and experiences especially when they relate to the same type of car. I think I'll go for a set of S drive yokohamas, I like tyres grippy but not too grippy so I can still have some fun in the car... Although I may change my mind at the last minute when I'm in the tyre place and buy a set of AO48's instead.....decisions, decisions.
John, glad the link was helpful, for what it's worth I've used the A539's on a westfield and a tintop and they are a good tyre in my opinion, good dry and decent wet grip, progressive and fairly quiet.
Happy new year all,
Cheers,
Mark.

Has anyone got experience of fitting Uniroyal 185/65/14 (presumably rain expert) on an Elan +2 Zetec Spyder?
I am thinking of the 65 profile to raise the car a bit and fill the arch to improve ride height on speed bumps. I spoke to Andy at Spyder Engineering who recommended the Uniroyals.
Unfortunately, my car has a cable gearbox that's converted to hydraulic so I can't fit the higher manifold.
Kind regards,
Nick
