I thought that the price looked pretty good but it appears that Ford needs a bit more cash for the Lotus height block. The price has jumped to Suggested Retail:$1599.00 in less than two months since I posted the last update that I saw. No further info other than the $230 price increase.

Brian used 8 words, I used none. I just Cut and pasted it all from the Ford racing site, after waiting for google maps to show the world picture at 28k bits per second I selected all, when I did edit - paste, the whole page dumped out of the buffer. I found the two sites in the U.K. and put them at the top. I was too lazy to select and delete the rest of it. I meant to say "hope this helps" but I didn't. Maybe some one else will want to know where they can get one and I wont have to go to the Ford site again, they will be able to Edit-Find on the page...

Beau is getting old, he turned 8 on the 1st of December and goes to bed right after dinner. I am not that much better, 8 pm and I am usually done for the night. Many times though I will get up at 1 or 2 am and see whats going on and Beau is always eager to see whats happening out side.

What happen to the last engine that you built and I sugested that you wait until the new blocks came out? Which block are you looking for the tall deck or the Twin Cam height block? I don't think that the short deck version has been released yet but I think it is due out any time now.

I remember your comments and it's what prompted the question about where to buy the new block in the UK.
When I had my engine block problem earlier this year, I panicked a little and bought a tall block with crank and con rods as an immediate cure for the problem. However, in the meantime I was given a good 681M block that honed out to the size of the forged pistons that I had already machined to suit the QED 420 head I had intended to fit. The engine was eventully completed, but due to some other issues, the car did not get on the road until September. I quickly completed the 50 run-in cycles as prescribed by Rohan, did about 100 miles on the road before getting it set-up on the rolling road. The engine runs very nicely and well behaved in rush hour traffic and did about 200 miles before it was on show at our local CL stand in the Classic Motor Show a couple of weeks ago.
Now here comes the real story - I have to take the engine out as there is a busted 2nd gear synchro in the gearbox that needs to be fixed, and I have all the parts to build a 1700 tall block engine. And I now have my mind set on the higher torque 1700 engine.
The tall block is at the machinist, and I have just had a call to say that the quality of the block may not be to the standard I need. I shall go see the machinist this week, and in anticipation that he is correct in his assessment of the block, I asked the question about where to obtain a new block.
I know the cost of a new block is over and above the budget, but in the long run may be a good strategy instead of looking for another 40 year old 711M block.
I shall check availablity from the local Coventry source in the list that Beau kindly posted.

Beau is an old softie. At LOG 30, I took the grandchildren to meet Beau. The three year old (Islay - named after the island where the Scotch comes from), being an impulsive sort, dove right in, and the six year old twins followed. I was thinking, "This may not end well" but Beau just rolled over and lapped up the attention.

I've been in touch with the nominated source of new blocks in Coventry and was told that they have had a definite promise from Ford Racing of blocks by mid January (I'm assuming 2011).

I should have said that I was asked if I was interested in the Ford Kent or the Lotus block - when I said 'Tall Block', the guy said no problem it's the Kent block. So from that I assumed that the equivalents are 701M (Lotus 200mm deck) and 711M (Ford 211mm deck).
