MT 75 Gearbox question

Hi all
A question for those of you who have experience of an MT75 geabox in either an Elan or a +2, do you have a reverse gear block fitted to avoid accidental selection? I am at the stage now that if I decide to fit one it will be easier as the body is off at the moment - in fact it has been off ages but this is a slow burning project!
Thanks in advance,
John

I have an MT75 in my +2 and S4, never felt the need for a reverse block and my everyday (work) cars since 2008 have been 6 speeds.
I have on occasion ?automatically? tried to find 6th, but the box has totally baulked and not allowed selection.
Tales of Keith Moon and selecting reverse whilst travelling at speed are perhaps exaggerated.

John,
I have an MT75 in my S4 FHC. The work is incomplete, in that the body is not yet back on the car, so I cannot say for certain that my design works. Like you I am worried that my daily car is a six speed and that I will try to select 6 and find reverse. I have found the MT75 conversion difficult, I have spent years at it. It had not crossed my mind that reverse would baulk so badly as to make selection impossible. Let me know if you really want to follow this up.

Hi Richard
I think that reverse gear selection under normal circumstances will not be an issue, my concern was accidental selection when changing down from 5th to 4th whilst on the move but given others experience I no longer consider this anything to worry about.
Regards
