Is there a new headlight activation systems out there?

What is the latest available to raise and lower the headlights?? Search turned up some alternative methods and ideas but was wondering if there was something recent. Maybe something in a "kit" form??

I followed the ones in the Mods thread using a Mazda Miata unit, cheap as well. Depending on model, my mod was to a Plus2, it was quite simple.

I did my own system, using actuators from a Mazda Miata (MX5 over here in the UK). I found the work difficult, but educational, and I am pleased with the result. I suppose what you do depends on how you value your time and if you enjoy this sort of work.

One thing I did with the Miata unit, was rotate the motor shaft with the red knob, so it pointed up towards the engine compartment. A piece of aluminum tube extended the shaft/knob up into the engine compartment, so the knob could be accessed and the headlights could be raised manually if there was an electrical problem with motor. The aluminum tube was broached with a cut off section of a 5.5mm hex wrench, which allowed the tube to slip over the exposed hex of the motor shaft. The far end of the tube was also broached and then the sacrificial piece of the hex wrench was glued into the shaft so the knob could be slipped over an extended section of the wrench. If there is a failure, all I have to do is raise the hood/bonnet and the knob falls right to hand.

All, thank you for the information. With my work schedule and other car projects the Matty kit, although a bit pricy, is looking pretty good right now.

Yes, thank you to all........great info. After a couple of PM's and phone calls, I have decided to go with a Miata motor on each headlamp. Simple and no hardware trying to join the two. Purchased a couple of motors from a member on prodracing.com.
