The Supersprint Look

PostPost by: Spyder fan » Fri May 17, 2013 11:32 am

I have had a lot of comments about my Supersprint so far this driving season, if anyone really disapproves of it they have certainly been polite and not told me so.

Elan Sprint Drive Out Day 10th May 2013

If you park my car next to an original Elan Sprint it's hard to spot the difference at first glance, but if you discount the stuff that is not on display(engine and chassis) there are the following things quite different.

Outside
1) Front splitter that was sourced from a Europa
2) Deleted side repeaters
3) No trim between front bumper and nose
4) Tex door mirrors fitted (look good and actually work)
5) 14 inch bolt on Minilites finished in Gold colour matched to the stripes and bumpers
6) The vinyl applied ELAN SUPERSPRINT side windups
7) Monza style fuel filler cap, (looks almost correct and doesn't leak)

Interior
1) Proper handbrake mounted on the tunnel
2) Inertia reel seat belts
3) Spyder roll over bar and side impact and footwell bars
4) Dashboard in walnut with an extra clock (an actual clock)
5) Original pattern seats but faced with soft nappa leather
6) Moto Lita matt black spoked steering wheel

Of course the real viva la different is obvious when you peer under the bonnet

Certainly is one great piece of kit & it's easy to see that a lot of grey matter has been needed in doing those changes & of course a whole load of work.
I love it; but perhaps I'm a bit biased

Very nice job. But how could you possibly countenance putting a different engine in? Pure sacrilege.....:-)

PS. How warm do your feet get?

Surely if it is a problem, all of the owners of LHD Twin-cam powered Elans would suffer from "hot foot syndrome"? :?

Cheers

It's certainly a hot car, but not in the uncomfortable feet sense

There's some serious exhaust wrap on the manifold all the way to the Y piece.

More power more torque more fun without fear of breakage (financial or otherwise) .

A car to be driven.

An Elan with a Wankel engine might be interesting.
