Spyder Zetec Elan +2 Valve Timing

Hi, can anyone tell what the valve timing should be on an Zetec Silvertop engine?
I understand that the car has fast road cams in but not sure which. The car was put together in 2004. Thanks

Hi Julian
If you do not know the exact cams that you have, you will have to use the standard method of aligning the slots in the back of the camshaft with the face of the head at top dead centre. There is a special tool for this but I used a piece of 5mm bright steel bar to lock the cams, if you do a google search you will find a more detailed description and probably some pictures of how to time the cams.

Thanks, I have tried the standrad notches. The car runs but has a very poor pickup. One thing I need to do is verify the cam timing is correct.
Next step I think is to get the make of cam and the info form the manuafacturer
