Anti roll bar/ Drop links

I'm building a Zetec elan +2, I have modified an early Spyder chassis to accept the zetec (200 Bhp) with a MT75 gearbox and cossie rear diff.
I have found the standard anti roll bar just hits the rear of the escort sump. Can anybody tell me if I extended the drop links between the chassis and the roll bar. Will this affect the efficiency of the roll bar.
I have also fitted wilwood 4 pot rear calipers with inbuilt handbrake and 4 pot Wilwood front calipers with vented capri front discs
Regards
Rob

Hi Rob,
I've always thought that the anti roll bar works in torsion between the wishbone/damper mountings and the central mounts were just there to stop it dragging on the ground ?
Ok, being serious I'd guess the arms of the bar should be horizontal when running to allow maximum suspension movement, but assuming you don't relocate it so much that it impedes suspension movement I'd have thought a few degrees of angle wouldn't make that much difference.

Hi Rob,
The anti roll bar is always very close to the sump, I ground a little of the casting away to give a bit of clearance, spyder do the same. When the car is at normal ride height the roll bar will move away from the sump slightly more as it moves in an arc.
It's no problem extending the drop links an inch or two, won't make any difference at all. Just make sure nothing fouls or is vunerable over speed humps etc.
I also added an extra spacer to the exhaust side anti roll bar mount where it bolts to the chassis to move the block clamp away from the exhaust manifold & give some clearance.
Hope this helps,
Mark.
