5 Speed Question

Hi,

I seem to remember that it's important to put the box into gear before removal, but a search
in the archives hasn't brought this subject up.

If I'm right, then which gear might be pertinent.

Assuming a Lotus (Maxi) 5 speeder - put it in fourth gear before removing the gear lever.
